Research feeds the commercial operations of BBRG, and ensures that we remain at the forefront of technology in our fields of expertise.
It is our job to work closely with our customers to develop the products that will keep us ahead of the competition. We develop sound partnerships with customers and academic and other institutions in order that we may focus on the relevant opportunities for the future.
The main areas of opportunity in the technical department are:

  • Research & Development
  • Rope Design & Technology
  • Wire Rope Metallurgy
  • Hybrid & Synthetic product innovation
  • Testing & Inspection

To excel in these areas, we are looking for people with Masters Degrees and PhD’s, usually in Metallurgy, Materials Science (metals and polymers) and Engineering. You’ll also need the self-motivation and confidence to get on with project work in an open and flat structure, and the flexibility and interest to expand beyond your specialist field or primary discipline.

Opportunities in Engineering

Engineering is core to our business, and whether it’s associated with the design & commissioning of new plant & equipment or carrying out key maintenance activities, the function provides its team members with challenging and varied projects and responsibilities.
The main areas of opportunity in the engineering department are:

  • Project & Plant Design Engineering
  • Maintenance Engineering
There are opportunities for first-degree graduates (and those with equivalent qualifications) in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Aeronautical engineering, who possess the relevant technical knowledge and who can communicate effectively and are practical self-starters with strong IT & organisation skills. There are also opportunities for people to complete recognised Apprenticeships within many parts of BBRG, and the Company has a long history of success in this area.

Opportunities in Production Operations

The Operations teams keep the wheels of the company moving. Practical problem-solving and lean manufacturing techniques play a fundamental part in the efficiency of all operations areas, where exceptional quality and strict adherence to safety are critical.
The main areas of opportunity in the operations departments are:

People at all levels of education and experience can establish a sound career within the Production Operations teams - from Team Workers within the factory to Team Leaders, Shift/Process Managers and Production Managers. For those specialist areas such as HS&E, Quality and Lean, recognised professional qualifications are a desirable addition to a keen eye for detail and the ability to work closely in teams.

Opportunities in Sales & Marketing

Sales and marketing provides the crucial link between the Company and our customers. We build long-lasting relationships with our customers and work closely with them to ensure that our products meet their needs and that our customer service is excellent, timely and cost-effective. We undertake specific marketing projects to build product sales and develop target territories.
To succeed, we must have the trust and confidence of our customers and they must know that our efforts are based on an expert knowledge of their business and their product requirements.

We are looking for people who are quick on the up-take and who get things done. Graduates in most disciplines are welcomed, particularly those including Business or Science/Engineering. Strong people skills are a must, as is the ability to give presentations to customers and calm people when things get demanding and persuade them to find a win-win deal for them and our business. It is also a real advantage to be proficient in another language in addition to English.
