Doha International Airport

The New Doha International Airport expansion will be a major hub for Qatar Airways and in the Middle East, significantly increasing the amount of air traffic and passengers than pass through the region. NDIA is designed as major economic foundation which will bring sustainable growth to the region. Bridon manufactured over 100 tonnes of Stainless Steel Dyform cable assemblies for New Doha International Airport (NDIA) project.
The product was used in several different work packages including the Emiri Terminal, The Majilis and the main car park structures. The intense summer heat in Qatar gives average temperatures of over 50 degrees in summer, as a result many car parks are covered with shade sail structures to limit the effect of direct sunlight. The Car Park at the NDIA comprises of hundreds of hyperparabolic (double curved) fabric canopies all of are supported and tensioned using Stainless Steel Dyform cable. Bridon extended the existing range of Stainless Steel Dyform to incorporate a 1000kN MBL cable used as bracing cables to the outer edges of the structure. In total Bridon Gelsenkirchen manufactured over 1500 cable assemblies to meet the demand of the project in diameters from 12mm to 35mm Stainless and 45mm to 70mm Galfan Locked coil.
