Main ropes
The hoist ropes operate through the trolley to raise and lower the containers during operation and generally operate on a single layer helically grooved drum. The ropes therefor need to have excellent bent fatigue performance and to achieve this, Bridon-Bekaert offer ropes which are filled internally with plastic and incorporating high performance lubrication to minimise wear and internal friction. A key requirement is for these ropes to operate as pairs or within a set and therefor need specific characteristics in terms of diameter retention and elongation together with the ability to withstand mechanical damage.
