Swing yarder

Used for hauling logs on steep ground, when rigged with a grapple provides a fast safe method for hauling logs. Only requires small landing area as yarder can slew and land logs to the side. Rigged with main rope, haul back and possibly a closing rope if running a grapple and usually three guy lines.

Main rope

The main rope is used to pull carriage and butt rigging with logs onto the landing.

Tail and haulback ropes

Haul back ropes are used to return the main rope (butt rigging and/or carriage).

Guy lines

The guy lines holds the tower yarder upright against forces imposed upon during hauling.
